Tarkine Walk FAQs

The Tarkine — also known as Takayna — is home to Australia’s largest cool temperate rainforest and is one of the country’s last great wilderness regions. Our Tarkine walking tours take you through ancient myrtle forests, along cascading rivers, and across the rugged Tarkine Coast, with over 60 rare or endangered species calling the area home.

The Tarkine Wilderness Walk is a 5-day, 4-night fully guided tour covering 40–45 km of extraordinary landscapes.

The Tarkine Wilderness Walk is graded 2–4 (Easy to More Difficult). It is designed for most fitness levels, though some sections include uneven terrain and root-covered paths. Full grading information and training tips are available on our website.

The Tarkine Wilderness Walk is limited to a maximum of 10 guests, ensuring a personalised, small-group experience with two experienced accredited guides.

The tour includes 3 nights of unique bushland accommodation at Corinna Lodge and 1 night with another provider, with evenings spent enjoying hearty meals and fireside comfort in a remote wilderness setting.

Yes. An early morning cruise exploring the Pieman River and Tarkine Coast is fully included in the tour — it offers a stunning perspective of the wilderness from the water.

All meals are included — breakfasts, trail lunches, two-course dinners, plus snacks, fruit, and non-alcoholic beverages on and off the trail. Two dinners are enjoyed at local accommodation restaurants.

You only need to carry a daypack on the trail. We recommend worn-in hiking boots, a waterproof jacket, and warm layers. Full packing guidance is available in our ‘Get Hiking Ready’ resources on the website.
