On this tour we’ll walk through the best of the Goldfields region of Victoria. These are quintessential Australian landscapes reminiscent of the paintings of the Heidelberg group.
Along the way we’ll pass reminders of the gold rush era – diggings, mining ruins and old equipment. The tiny townships give us insight into what this region would have been like in its gold rush heyday when it was swarming with thousands of miners.
As well as the glorious walking, which is well within the reach of anyone moderately fit, we’ll also take in other regional delights. We’ll explore the magnificent Castlemaine Art Gallery and the charming Convent Gallery in Daylesford. We’ll visit a local chocolate maker and sample the sweet treats. We’ll drop in to a local cider brewery and also visit a traditional bakery where the wood-fired oven dates from 1891!
Of course, no trip through the region would be complete without a visit to the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa – here we’ll take a relaxing dip in the warm mineral-rich waters, soothing our muscles at the end of a day’s walking.
