Why Walk With Us

Trusted for Over 25 Years

Why walk with us? We’ve been running small group walks for over 25 years. Our mission is to seamlessly blend walking with nature, connection, and wellness.

Over this time, we’ve perfected ‘walking the highlights’, by providing relaxed, day-pack only holidays through iconic landscapes.

Our walking holidays are meticulously designed to offer the best trails, experiences and guides, so all you need is your walking shoes and a spirit for adventure.

When you walk with Park Trek you can also take comfort in our commitments to sustainable local travel, reconciliation, and supporting communities where we walk.

Our walks are designed to be accessible and inclusive – see this blog. We cater for public, private, corporate, and charity groups.

Read more about the accessibility of our walks here.

We pride ourselves on giving you the best experience on your holiday, so we keep our groups small, and only ever have a maximum of 10 people on each adventure.

Our day-pack only walks mean we take care of your luggage, so you can relax and immerse yourself in the wonder of your surroundings.

We believe in the benefits of being active while connecting with nature & others. Our small groups allow you to be mindful & in the moment, while learning more about the places we visit thanks to our expert guides.

Park Trek has been Advanced Eco-Certified for over 15 years and is committed to sustainable travel. This means:

  1. Minimising environmental impact.
  2. Helping others learn about environment.
  3. Achieving best practice and using resources wisely.
  4. Conserving our environment.
  5. Helping local communities
  6. We also recently partnered with GreenFleet Australia to offset our tour vehicle emissions.

We also subscribe to ‘Leave no trace principles’ in all that we do. These principles are:

  1. Plan and prepare – Communicate with park managers to be well informed and prepared.
  2. Travel on durable surfaces – Stay on tracks, boardwalks and hard surfaces to avoid damage.
  3. Pack in-pack out (dispose waste properly) – Leave nothing out there on the trail.
  4. Leave it as you find – Leave flora, fauna, natural objects or cultural artifacts as you found them.
  5. Minimise activity impact (or fires) – Limit or split up groups to minimize our impact.
  6. Respect wildlife – Let animals be and respect their space.
  7. Be considerate – Respect our First Nations peoples, our hosts, land managers and local communities

The places we walk are often remote and rural, and as visitors all we want to leave behind are our footprints and happy memories.

To support local economies, we prefer local providers e.g.:

  • Accommodation – We favour locally owned accommodation, aligned with our values.
  • Eat & shop local – Most tours have at least one night out, and our guests often pick up locally made goods.
  • Local & indigenous guides – Many tours use local guides and knowledge e.g. bush tucker, culture, flora, fauna.

Our friends at Ecotourism Australia have also prepared some great tips on sustainable travel, including “How to reduce your travel emissions” and “Top 10 Responsible Travel Tips“.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country and recognise their continuing connection to land, water, skies and culture.

We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and we are committed to reconciliation.

Our expert guides are knowledgeable, experienced, accredited… and awesome! We take pride in their skilled work and expertise, as their insights into local hidden gems and culture make each walk and unforgettable journey.

All our guides are paid properly and treated with the respect they deserve. We take great pride in their skilled work.

Our holidays are relaxed and friendly, as we take care of everything. You can simply enjoy spending time in stunning locations with like-minded guests who share a passion for exploring new places.

We welcome couples, families, friends, single walkers and private groups to experience a holiday of a lifetime with us.
