Spring is surely the best time of year to visit the Grampians. The array of wildflowers spray delicate colour across the rugged, rock-strewn landscape. And the weather is perfect for hiking.
The Grampians Peaks Trail is an iconic multi-day walking trail in the Grampians National Park and Park Trek’s four-day Grampians tour will take you to the highlights of the trail.
We’ll hike the steady ascent to Boronia Peak for fabulous views across the Wonderland Range. We’ll visit the Grand Canyon before reaching the well-known lookout at the Pinnacle and we’ll hike to Sundial Peak for expansive views across to Mt Rosea. The hike to the summit of Mt Rosea will be a challenge, and the shorter hike to the summit of Mt William, the highest peak in the Grampians, will offer sprawling views along the entire length of the range.
The walking on this tour is moderate and occasionally difficult – you’ll need to be able walk up steep and rocky trails – but it is well within the reach of most walkers. After a day on the trail, hiking with only a day pack, we settle in to our comfortable accommodation in Halls Gap. Our cabins are in a tranquil bush setting and there is even a salt water pool for a relaxing swim.
