ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Mount Dunn
Distance: 6-8km, 2hrs walking approx.
Grade: 3, Moderate
We depart Melbourne and head north. Our first day’s drive takes us via stunning Victorian country landscape as we pass through Seymour, and Glenrowan—the home of Ned Kelly’s famous last stand and police shoot out in 1880.
As we enter Porepunkah we make our way up into the ‘island in the sky’ – Mt Buffalo National Park where we enjoy lunch at Lake Catani before we start our first hike of the tour as we take on Mt Dunn.
Mt Dunn is set amongst sub alpine plains, and tall alpine ash forest, sure to inspire you in this lush landscape. The summit offers sublime views of the Mt Buffalo plateau and will take us approx. 2hrs to complete this trek.
After our first spectacular walk and a busy day of travels we’ll head to the nearby township of Bright to our lovely overnight accommodation set amongst the trees on the Ovens River, enjoy some time to wind down before a delicious two course meal prepared by your guides.

Ascending Mt Dunn.
DAY 2 – Mount Bogong
Distance: 20kms, 9hrs walking approx.
Grade: 4, Difficult
An early start for a big day! We make lunch, pack our gear, leave our accommodation and take a scenic drive through Tawonga Gap to Mountain Creek carpark. Our ascent is via the Staircase Spur track, climbing through the peppermints, then mountain gums, snow gums and finally breaking out above the tree line.
From there we achieve the summit cairn and stand upon Victoria’s highest peak at 1986 metres above sea level. A great place to have lunch, then it’s down via the Eskdale Spur to our bus waiting at the bottom.
We head back to your accommodation to relax and refresh before heading out into town for dinner at a local eatery or pub.
Depending on the weather, group dynamic and road access, todays walk could be completed in either direction. Guides will choose the most suitable on the day.

The peak of Mt Bogong.
Day 3 – Mount Feathertop
Distance: 22kms, 9hrs walking approx.
Grade: 4, Difficult
We start today with a satisfying breakfast, and we make and pack our lunch and snacks for the trail. Then we’re off for a busy day taking on Mt Feathertop Summit via the township of Harrietville—an old goldmining township- heading deeper into Victoria’s high country at the head of the Ovens Valley.
Our trailhead is at the south end of the breathtaking Razorback, a ridgeline connecting two of Victoria’s highest peaks – Mt Feathertop and Mt Hotham. It is a rocky and very exposed trail in parts and caution is required, particularly in windy conditions. The climb to the summit of Mt Feathertop (1922m) shows off incredible views.
As we descend down the mountain into Harrietville you’ll pass through camping areas dispersed amongst the snow gums and into the forest, before finishing the trail with a huge sense of achievement.
Walking straight into the Harrietville Hotel Motel after a long and rewarding day, it is a perfect time to gather round to share stories and reflect on the day’s adventure. After a well earnt dinner, we make our way back to Bright to turn in for the night.
Todays walk may vary between finishing at Mt Hotham or at Harrietville depending on weather, group dynamic and road access. Guides will choose the most suitable on the day

An epic walk to Mt Feathertop.
Day 4 – Ovens River Canyon Walk
Distance: 6km, 2hrs walking approx.
Grade: 2, Easy
After the challenges of our last three days we enjoy a more relaxed start to the day. Walking directly from our doorstep we meander our way along the Ovens River Canyon walk. Enroute we can stop for a coffee and check out some of the beautiful town’s sights. There is also an opportunity to spend some time relaxing in town if your legs are a little weary.
We enjoy lunch in around the Bright region before heading back to Melbourne after what can only be described as an epic high-country adventure. We generally arrive back at the NGV in Melbourne around 5:30pm to conclude our tour.
*Walking times and distances may be adapted to the weather and groups needs based on guides discretion.
Each day we also provide fruit, snacks, tea and coffee and a nibbles platter.
Each evening after our days walking, we return back to our accommodation for some time to refresh and enjoy the spectacular scenery around our accommodation. Your guides will curate a beautiful nibbles platter for you, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. During this time, they will also conduct a briefing, offering insights into the days experiences and outlining your upcoming adventures.
